1955年香川県生れ。画家、著述家、装幀家。武蔵野美術大学造形学部油絵卒業。1979～80年ヨーロッパ各地に滞在。帰国後京都市神戸市に住むが、1995年阪神淡路大震災に遭遇し京都市に戻る。ギャラリー島田、メリーゴーランド京都、新潟絵屋、ウィリアムモリス、岸本画廊、ギャラリー柳井、村田画廊、他で個展多数。書籍の装幀を手掛けるかたわら同人雑誌『ARE』『sumus』『spin』を編集する。書物ならびにその装幀を深く愛し、描く絵には古書なども多く、オブジェの素材に本が使われるところなど造形における特徴がある。
著書『喫茶店の時代』により尾崎秀樹記念大衆文学研究賞、『書影でたどる関西の出版100/創元社』により竹尾賞デザイン書籍優秀賞、『書影の森ー筑摩書房の装幀1940-2014』と『花森安治装釘集成の』の装幀により造本装幀コンクール・日本書籍出版協会理事長賞を受賞。

We sell the works of the artist "Tetsuo HAYASHI".
Born in Kagawa, 1955. Painter, author, and binding artist. He graduated from Musashino Art University with a degree in oil painting, and stayed in various places in Europe from 1979 to 1980. After returning to Japan, he lived in Kyoto and Kobe, but returned to Kyoto after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995. He has had numerous solo exhibitions at Gallery Shimada, Merry-Go-Round Kyoto, Niigata Eya, William Morris, Kishimoto Gallery, Gallery Yanai, Murata Gallery, and others. He has also edited the coterie magazines "ARE," "sumus," and "spin" while working on book bindings. He has a deep love for books and their bindings, and his paintings often include old books.
He won the Ozaki Hideki Memorial Prize for Popular Literature Research for his book "The Age of the Coffee Shop", the Takeo Award for Excellence in Design Books for "Shokage de tracing 100 Kansai publications/Sogensha", and the Zohon Binding Contest Japan Book Publishers Association Chairman's Award for the binding of "Shokage no Mori - Chikuma Shobo no Binding 1940-2014" and "Hanamori Yasuji Bokugishusei no".
